Sounds like something people missing 30HP and a gear would say.

That's true. They called it that cause it was the only year the DC had the 4 speed and no VVT. Sort of an in-between'er.

I do like my trans dipstick though.

    The 4.10's are probably nice.
Not that any AC v8's would know without a swap.
I remember being very impressed with my stock 06. It just kept in the powerband forever compared to my 5vz.
My 03 does fine with its mods. I wish I still had a stockish 06 to compare it to.

I realize I'm late to the Costco conversation- but I've found a ton of deals on electronics there. My laptop that I use for college needs to be super powerful to run the rendering softwares, and I bought it at Costco for an insane deal even compared to places like Micro Center. They don't always have deals, but when they do, I've found them to be pretty good. Especially on smaller stuff, like external hard drives/SSDs, Apple airtags, etc. My laptop was $1200 before tax, it's a Lenovo Slim Pro 9- everywhere else it was $1600+. I was really surprised with how much cheaper it was.

Here's the specs if anyone is curious (I admittedly love to flex these): 3.7 GHz i9 Evo processor, 4050RTX w/ 6gb VRAM, 32gb LPDDR5 memory, 2tb M.2 SSD, 165 Hz touchscreen HDR display.

Bought some spark plugs for the gf's SHO. $65 after shipping for 6 fancy pants NGK 90495 ruthenium plugs. Vatozone wanted $17 a plug for the Motorcraft sp580 iridiums. Pfff.

I never even heard of ruthenium.
Then again, up until 2012ish, I had never heard of iridium either.

I worked on iridium. The sat phone network, not the spark plug. That was back in 98.

It's pretty clear to me that most of the people in that Facebook page are aware of the risk but are either too lazy or too cheap to change them out. Usually they say something like "iT fINaLlY hApPenED". Like they expected it.

I'm an asshole and experience schadenfreude every time.

But I also appreciate it, because it lets us drill home the point: OEM LBJ or DIE.

Back when I went OEM I got to thinking... I wonder what the actual true stats would look like.
How many of the failures were OEM (and just old).
How many were aftermarket with low miles.
How many miles/type of use, like light off road? heavy off roading? frequency?

40k miles on these aftermarket’s. So far, so good. Pretty mild use. No crawling or mudding, some unimproved roads when hunting, but mostly on road use. They don’t squeak or clunk. They’ll get swapped out when I do my front bearings.

I've never head of it either till I looked on the shoforum what people are using.

Also, her car only has 60k on it and it's very noticeable it needs plugs. No codes and noticeable decrease in performance.

4.10 swap is the bonus for a stock AC/RC.

For the 04 DC it just makes it similar to a stock AC/RC w/3.91's
