    It’s the elusive Ribeye Cab.

(although homey on the left looks more like a sirloin, imposter)

Those are first gen strips and ribbies. Or last gen. Their lineage stopped on the grille today. Worthy sacrifice.

One up top looks like a strip b/c of that thick backstrap but it's so taaaaaaaall. Left looks like sirloin. Other two (bottom, left) look like ribeyes. You know better than anyone though. I just like cow on fire.

Fellas, here's a pic of the engine bay of my newly acquired '06.
Anyone have any idea as to why the plastic on the intake is so discolored and turned white?

Wrong cleaner was used on it. If it bothers you, gloss black paint it.

See if running a thumbnail accross it firmly darkens it. If so, you can probably take any hard plastic item and run back and forth across it, or use a heavy gauge bronze wool (NOT steel wool) and run across it to re-darken.

And I see the timing belt sticker. I don't remember every post on here for new truck stuff. Always verify the belt yourself, even if you personally paid to have someone install it. But especially verify if the PO claims to've changed it.

I was able to scratch the white off with my fingernail, will try the bronze wool later.

I have verified the timing belt is (relatively) fresh, it was done 20k miles ago at a dealer. I pulled the timing cover off and the belt looked brand spanking new. So that's nice :D

Had her since October. She's coming out nice...

The kids seem to want to name the whole rig "Razor Crest". I like it.

Here's mine: 2006 DC 4WD. Had it for about 5 years. Added Kenwood stereo and backup camera. Replaced rear axle and emergency brake stuff due to excessive rust. Also replaced original steel wheels with 17" 4Runner alloys and 1" spacers to adjust for offset. Have new headlight assemblies, but haven't put them in yet. Only thing that doesn't work is the headlight indicator/bright indicator on the dash. Interested in replacing/repairing and upgrading to keep this thing for many years - after my son totaled my white 2005 DC 4WD a few years ago.

Not sneaking, but the low original miles are balanced with the effects of the truck being in the rust belt for so long - probably, not much of a flex and definitely not bragging. Just glad to have one at all - after losing my beloved 2005.

Definitely not a flex, nor something you necessarily want. More info on my low-mile plight and others who were worse-off over here. But I'd take that over rust-belt life any day. I think it may be arguably worse, unless they didn't drive it when temps were low enough salt was on the roads.

Welcome to the forum! Inspect that frame carefully. Nobody wants to be this guy, whose frame looked alright everywhere else only to find there wasn't much frame left behind one of the aprons.

@shifty` yeah, I'm very much aware of the potential rust issues, but I'm stuck with it and trying to fix what I can. Just not physically able to get under it much anymore (double knee replacements.)

I was looking all over the country for a replacement for my beloved 2005 DC 4WD that my son totaled and found this one. Had it shipped to my house without seeing it. First big mistake. Second was to buy a truck from the east coast where I know the rust problems are even worse than here in Utah (which is very bad by itself.)

So, I'm reading your great posts and trying to guide my rust remediation efforts because I know I have it in spades - especially because I've had to replace the entire rear axle and emergency brake system already.

    Thanks!

    Hello all,

This is my dream truck. A 2006 Toyota Tundra DC. She's old. But she's got plenty of life left with only 140k. She sits until I need her for hunting/camping/fishing. All she needs left are TRD pro style wheels and all terrain tires. I've been debating about bronze or black wheels. It seems like every Toyota I've seen have black TRD pro wheels. So I want to be that guy and stand out from the rest and get bronze wheels. I hope to see more first gen tundras around.

Gold wheels. You need gold wheels. If you're not going gold or silver, the best colors for all-white trucks, stick with bronze, or maybe smoked silver (but not as dark as gunmetal).

Truck looks great. Don't miss this.

All maintenance items were done when I bought the truck - OEM lower ball joints, AISIN timing belt and components, front and rear bilstein shocks, and power steering rack.
