Canadian Extended Warranty

do you have a contact at mediceinehat? I’m in Manitoba and if,my dealer won’t budge on warranty I’ll buy it,from medicinehat

 

Are you confusing Extended warranty with service plans .
You can buy a service plan to cover you normal maintenance during your warranty period and but an extended warranty after 3/5 years

 

Just to let everyone know that I received an email from Toyota Canada regarding ECP.

you can buy ECP up until the factory 3/60 warranty expires. There is a surcharge each of the 3 years. Toyota did not specify the surcharges so I asked what they were.

I’m now rethinking the ECP as 3 years from now we will have 5 years of data to help with the decision.

I can also use this as a tactic (I’ll buy the warranty right now for 20% off) and I’ll mention Toyota told me I was free to buy from another dealer, and I have in fact been offered a 20% discount.

however they want to discount it. Off the ECP or off the vehicle, or “more” for the trade. Can’t hurt. Worst is they say no and I just buy from another dealer anyway. Maybe from Alberta. No sales tax.

FYI we were able to get close to $1000 off the price of a Platinum 84mo/160,000KM ECP and we did so from a different dealer than we purchased the truck. We bought the truck from our in town dealership but we’ve been servicing our Toyotas at a different dealership in our region for years.

 

I have 3 years so I’m not too too concerned to buy right away, but if they will discount 20% I’ll buy when I pick up the truck.

they can accept or not. I had no idea you had 3 years to buy ECP. Of course dealer won’t advertise this. They don’t want people to think about it or shop around.

 

Picked up my truck today. Tried negotiating a discount on the ECP. Nope. Shut down right away. “We don’t discount” “I’m not allowed to discount, no one at this dealership is allowed”.

told him I have an offer of 20% off. He told me to go buy it. lol.

I think even if I can’t get a discount I’ll just buy from another dealer. One in Alberta so I’d at least get no sales tax.
