Ramps, jackstands, or…….?

I have a Torin 3 ton “offroad” jack that’s tall enough to get the truck off the ground, and then 6 ton stands.

That's awesome! That's what I'm planning on doing too. Found a really good video of the perfect ramps I want to build. My brothers really good at woodworking out in Texas so we're gonna build em when I head out there next month.

 

I made some ramps out of 2x4's in a time of need about 15 years ago and they worked so well I still use them




These combination bottle jack/jack stands are handy for rotating wheels

 

Need a jack. Should I snag this or spend a bit more like the other pic?

Speaking of jacks, I just did a rotation on my truck a few days ago. I found it odd the manual recommends jacking the front tires up from the frame just rear of the trans crossmember. It worked, but it sure seems to be too far rearward. You end up jacking up the whole side of the truck, instead of just the corner you're working on. My 3.5 ton floor jack barely had enough travel to get the front tires in the air. That was with 33" tires and no lift.

Also, I haven't used the factory jack, yet, but it doesn't appear tall enough to jack the front tires up from the recommended jacking points. It might be worth checking out before you have to rely on it on the side of the road. I'm going to throw a few 4"x4" blocks in my truck just in case.

Since I already have the 5000TLX, I asked if I could just get the frames and use my existing pump to run them. Answer is yes. That means it's a bit less expensive to just order the frames:

I also already have the "Truck Adapter Kit" so it looks like this is the direction I need to go. I really like the Quick Jack and feel it's much better than jack and stands.
