Yeah it's so quiet because it's dead....
All kidding aside looks like the evap froze up and probably caused ice to imped one or both fan's to give you that error code.
Like T Rex mentioned could be the board not reading the temp bulb properly.
I dunno not there so I'm shooting from the hip.
You bought the warranty so definitely use it,you'll spend some time on the phone unfortunately you're going to explaining it several times to multiple people.

    Good luck man.

The second and third Pic shows ice build up that's no bueno.
Defrost cycle it is a timed event & scheduled where it reverses the roles the evap becomes the condenser and the condenser becomes the evap.
I don't believe it has and additional time clock which leads me to believe it's on a separate board.

Yup, was talking with a friend and his mom today about their Samsung. Similar situation. Keeps freezing up. Class action lawsuit. I won’t buy Samsung appliances or TVs and I refused to buy Frigidaire also, after we got screwed with a microwave dying in like 18 months, and it had a 12mp warranty. Our appliance guy would’ve replaced it but they stopped making it 6 months ago, they barely ran it for 2 years.

Just can’t get good appliances anymore.

Where? I’m not seeing it. I put my hands on about everything, all the usual places. Came up empty. Only pretty typical condensate, which I’ve seen on other freezers when going from 0 to 75 in a short period.

My LG refrigerator died at 6 years. The shit compressor was covered under warranty but the install labor was $400 with no guarantees. I said F that and got a Made in USA Whirlpool Gold which also died in a few years. Now I have a cheap Frigidaire.

My apologies in the yellow area it looked like ice, but it's reflective foil,in your opening description you mentioned "I had to do a rapid defrost"....I didn't have my glasses on and went with your description.
    Now I can see...

About 7 years ago we bought the cheapest Frigidaire you could buy. Standard top frzr bottom fridge, I don't even think it's 3' wide...
Still going strong, but since day one it's made all kinds if weird noises. All random, probably 4-5 different kinds. I call it Santa's workshop.

That’s funny. My new Frigidaire makes tons of annoying noises.

Well, the fridge is right back to throwing the error less than 12 hours later, so it's clearly nothing to do with icing over. Doors are level, maybe the icemaker fan is shot. I noticed ice the in-door icemaker has been always just liquid enough to clump amd jam up, maybe it was bad from the get-go.

Now I gotta dig up paperwork for warranty, and probably throw an hour on the phone at this thing. I wish I could figure out how to run diagnostic modes on it, but I can't find the control board. It's not in the back of the unit like others that preceded this style.

The side by side unit my cheap one replaced had issues with the ice maker. After really looking at it the flap/door wasn't sealing perfectly, letting in just enough warm air to eff it up.

More than my LG fridge lasted. LG had a class-action lawsuit against them and current lawsuits regarding their linear compressors.

I plan on having a commercial walk in fridge/freezer built in the barn/workshop. Moving out to the country in a couple years and plan on having cows/pigs/rabbits/chickens/quails/ducks/turkeys/deer meat plus all the veggies from the garden.

Good luck on the fridge! My local shop stopped carrying LGs because of their customer support and issues in the field. Same with Samsung.

Just scheduled fiber to be installed at "the ranch"!!!!! In a couple months, I will be dropping starlink and rejoining the connected world! This will also save me coin and time with tree removal. Win/Win!

Spent 2-3 hours earlier re-cabling RF and a couple of ethernet runs in the data closet. I've had some lines suspended for a while now, just didn't have time to run any drill holes to run new RG6 and cat6, and reroute/install a new distribution for RG6. I've got a new modem coming soon, so figure I should just get it outta the way. Also re-mounted my G3 cam more-permanently. Not willing to post a pic until it's done. Still got a lot to do.

Then I went out to the stackstone beds, tilled in a load of manure and mushroom compost, topped off with a little more, then got some maters and sweet basil in the ground.

That reminds me - UDM SE gets here next Wednesday. Also have a new WAP on order (Ubiquiti type, not Cardi B type). I think I went with the U6+.

Then I just need a 3U or so wall bracket (or a rack) and about 500' or so of Cat6 and in a week or two I can run new networking for the new system. :D

So just imagine someone putting ceramic tile in the garage, from the front door to the driveway and then continue on the other side of the driveway all around the house and cover the large rear patio. I jacked hammered all of that out and while doing it a neighbor stopped to chat. He said they did the driveway also and it was BEAUTIFUL but the first tme they drove on it CRACK!!! No idea where some people get thier information on what to do. He had sooooo much extra tile it was ridiculous, must have caught a sale

Don’t get me wrong it was beautiful but any thing like dust or water on it and you would bust your ass. Plus cracked all over the garage and he said “There is plenty of extra to fix that when it breaks.” :monocle:

Neighbor refuses to keep the blackberrys under control. Those things are 20' tall and 30' thick 150' along the fence line. So guess who gets to keep them cut back. Without the Echo hedge trimmer it would be imposable. I can get thru 8' every 15 min.

You may be right. My observation is this:
    • Ice in the lower tray is fine; stays solid; no melt-off
    • Ice in the door was fine the 1st week (we're ~15wks in now); by week 3-5 we noticed it was clumping if it sat for more than a day or two; by week 10 we noticed when we got ice, we were getting some water in our cup too; today, it's building up half a cup of water over the course of the night
    • I've had to turn door ice off totally; still throwing the error "IF" (or 1F), but the previous bullet point is textbook what the error means: Fan isn't blowing enough freezer air into the door, which jibes, because it's warm enough inside the door that the ice was clumping and is now melting
    • I've found no blockage on the door vents, the doors are aligned properly, and the temperatures on the LED display match the thermometers I keep in the fridge/freezer
    • All coils/fans are in the freezer compartment; I checked for ice buildup on the coils and fans; see previous pictures, while the error is active, there are none
    • The fan that blows up into the door is dedicated, although it also has a little offshoot to blow over the in-freezer ice tray
    • The error apparently is popping up even if in-door ice is turned off, which suggests there's a sensor that reads inside the door, specifically
    • I haven't downloaded their smartphone app to see if it tells me anything; I'm going to assume it's garbage and only gives basic info for the layman who can't turn a wrench or troubleshoot their way out of a wet paperbag.
The problem seems pretty cut-and-dry to me: Something is preventing freezer air from continuously circulating up into the door, and it's gradually getting worse which could be...
    1. Fan is failing, not pushing air into the door
    2. Something has the passageway from the fan up to the door gradually getting blocked
    3. The sensor (in the door?) that tells the fan when to turn on isn't working
    4. There's a seal breach somewhere in the door, where the ice stays
    5. Circuit board is failing to tell the fan when to turn on
Given the freezer is 100% OK, and cooling where it should be, and the issue appears to be isolated to the door specifically containing the in-door icemaker and/or its airflow ... I doubt it's #5, I'm skeptical it's #2, I think #1, #3 or #4 is more likely. I read online for the similar-but-previous gen of this fridge, there's a sensor in the freezer that is known to go bad. If this was an issue with the linear compressor or with airflow around the unit itself, the entire unit would be fuggered up, not just the in-door ice feature.

I need to run down the paperwork Lowes gave me for warranty and get them out. Let them know what I've done, show them pics that there's no buildup. LG wants "normal" people who are incapable of fixing their own shit to pull everything out of the unit for 8 hours to "defrost" things as the main solution to this. But I already went in to rapid-defrost with a heat gun (we don't have a spare fridge and I can't sacrifice $1k-2k in food!) and found ... there's nothing to defrost.

Around here people use brambles as security, ain't nobody jumping your fence to break into your house if it's covered in brambles. I know one guy who picks his and sells to local restaurants at a premium. All I see is unripe blackberry pie getting destroyed right there!
