I did mine a while ago and was in Colorado for a few weeks this month and with snow and temps in the 20’s it was just fine

What size is the hose? If you used a coupler between the 2 hoses.

I just reused the hose I had, no need for more. I only rerouted it out of the TB

    Brand new cabin air filter!
Came across this thread yesterday and got to looking into it, watched a few videos as well as Keith's up there. I never knew this was a thing. I live in Southern Cali where we never see any snow plus even on the coldest day I can't imagine my TB freezing over. Seems like people are on the fence about it providing any sort of performance or slightly improved gas mileage.

@azTony any noticable changes after you did yours?

Curious if anybody else has done this?

I never do any of the testing before and after things just did it because of the logic behind it and never seen coolant flow through the TB on other vehicles. Sorry I cannot help

This is one of those mods that’s probably fun to do and think about the potential benefits but real world is unnoticeable.

All I can say is I had an appointment with a contractor across town and I was running behind a little. I jumped in the truck at 23 degrees turned the key and took off. I had nothing out of the ordinary. It was in the back of my mind so I was listening and watching the gauges. No issue

This. The half a nanosecond the air spends is passing through the TB won’t affect the temperature in a meaningful way.

May guess is this has more to do with the operation of the TB than actually heating the intake air.

Also, at lower loads where your engine is operating in vacuum, I think there could be a benefit to warmer intake air from an mpg and power standpoint. And when you are at WOT the velocity and air mass through the TB is so high that there is little heat transfer.

I figured this mod would be dumb and not have any effect for the reasons mentioned above, but I did it and actually have some basic data from before and after to say it does in fact lower IATs a measurable amount (8-12 degrees). My Harrop blower has an IAT sensor located post TB, SC rotors, and SC intercooler right before the air goes into the intake valves. See this post for my findings. I monitor IATs vs ambient pretty regularly as I drive. I was shocked to find it made any difference let alone that much of a difference.

    I used a 5/16 barbed coupling I believe.

If I wanna put a vacuum cap over those open tubes on the TB, would a 5/8 cap fit?

    5/8" is too big...get 1/4" or 5/16" if avaliable...

I just did this to both my 4runner and tundra today...SO much easier on the tundra with a SC as the TB is upside down!
