My 2022 Tundra has a parking support brake malfunction code and check engine light. Is this really a park break problem? Just wondering who all had experienced this and what problem they found and what they had to do to fix it.

Update on my parking support brake malfunction code and check engine light. The dealership had a code of a leak in the fuel system which was hard for me to believe but they found a crack in a canister charcoal filter above the spare tire. I'm not sure of its sole purpose but they said sometimes it has a vacuum and sometimes it is pressurized. Have to wait 2 weeks for the part now.

Well Shoot.... I just got the same codes. I've had it for 2 weeks. I chose Toyota over a Ford this time. Sure hope that wasn't a bad decision.

Mine was ok to drive until my part came in. Yours may be totally something different if I was you I would get it checked first chance I got.

Good thing you said something. Looks like it might be a problem for a lot of other folks.

So when putting the vehicle in park if you turn off the truck too soon with the auto parking brake function turned on it will give you this malfunction

    It doesn't cost anything.
    It is a warranty issue..

    Welcome to the forum.

    Has anyone bought a 2022 that didn't have a problem yet?:eek2:

Not sure what your point is. Is this a good thin, bad thing or not a thing at all?

I went to the dealer and they fixed it about 3 hours.
But a day after, the problem occurs again:
    - Parking support brake malfunction
    - Engine light
    - Cruise control doesn't work

I attached the invoice of my dealership.
Because I just pickup later, so I can't talk directly with the dealership advisor.
I don't know what's exactly they fixed with my car.

I have the same problem which i visited the dealership but they could not fix it yet. For my experience as of now the only fix is to turn off the engine and restart it again, however sometimes it will pop out again the malfunctioning on the middle of your trip.

Hi guys, I also have a 2022 Tundra TRD off road crewmax. Threw the same earring lights. Parking brake assist malfunction, check engine and the rear parking sonar disabled. I work for Toyota so had the techs go through the truck. We found a P059A71 code for the grill A shutter actuator stuck. There is a TSB out for a software update as a lot of the trucks are having this problem. With any brand new generation there may be a few bugs to work out. I hope this helps some of you

If the Gas cap is not properly secured it affects the pressure in the tank and Evap system. We’ve had techs diagnosing trucks to find that the gas caps are not properly secured giving the warning lights you’re seeing.

I work for Toyota and spoke with the service director. He said before when you had a check engine light on it would also doable the VSC and TRAC. Now on the new gen the check engine light also throws the parking support brake malfunction code and in my case disabled my rear sonar because those were the systems affected by the module for my error code. Turned out to be the grill shutter actuator. There is a TSB for a software update for this.. hoe it helps

2022 1794....132 miles, just threw all of the parking malfunction warnings with the sonar. I shut off the car and restarted it and all warnings went away.. at least for now. Are you saying that the grill shutter actuator causes that? (What is the grill shutter actuator anyway?)

    Pretty things
Many of today's gigantic grilles have "active shutters" to close off a portion (or majority) of the open grille area. They typically use electric actuators to activate at the desired speed/cooling needs.

All in the name of govt. mandated MPGs

....I don't know what that has to do with throwing codes, but apparently that's a thing now.

I am also in same boat. Toyota Dealer just informed me they are ordering a new Engine Control Module. Let's see how long it takes to get. My rental is now a 2001 Ram 1500 covered by them.

Wanted to add my info here too. Dealer stated they fixed my problem with this as well and just a couple days after the “fix” I started getting the CEL again.

Called my dealer and they stated “we show in our system we took care of it, since it’s a recurring issue you will need to contact Toyota directly and file a claim”

So I am waiting on information from Toyota about what to do next. Kind of disappointed with the dealer just passing it off.

Yep, that ain’t right. Obviously it’s not fixed no matter what their system says. Call back and ask for a manager, not a service manager.

Same issue happened to me - try this "fix". With the truck turned off, activate the prking brake manually, then crank the truck. It should reset the error.

To recreate the error, put it in drive/reverse move a little, then quickly stop / put in park / and turn off (do this very quickly). The next time you start it, the CEL should come back on .... apply the fix mentionwd above. No need for trip to dealer

3000 miles and got the same check engine with parking support message. Took in to Toyota and they said I had contaminated gas. Not sure what that has to with brake support. They wanted to drop tank and flush… non of which woukd be covered by warranty… any advice? Truck runs and sounds fine.

Told me it was a cracked evaporation canister from factory. Drive it, wait on part. Apparently, it kicks that code out for several things. Good news, part will be in tomorrow. I honestly can't complain, sounds like some of you all got a raw deal. Roll on!

Took my front bumper off in addition to the grill shutters to remove and wrap the trim pieces and got this issue as well when everything was put back together and connected.

Put the truck in park, removed the parking brake, turned the engine off, turn parking brake back on and then turned the truck back on. Error message was gone.
    Thanks!
